Kisspeptin is a neuropeptide that plays a crucial role in regulating reproductive function, particularly in controlling the release of hormones like gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and, subsequently, luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).
Interesting fact… Kisspeptin was discovered relatively recently, in the early 2000s, by researchers studying the genetics of human reproduction. It was named after the Hershey's Kiss chocolate, as the researchers found it in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
